Seven years removed from the Utes, St. Louis coach Rick Majerus continues to battle a heart condition made worse by the lingering effects of a leg injury suffered when two players diving for a loose ball upended him, gashing his knee to the bone. SLU is 9-17 this season.

“Once in a while I’ll get a little irritable with this,” Majerus said. “You get a little short-tempered, so you take it out on them. Something that maybe wasn’t as bad a thing, maybe you jump them. They’ve been real good. I’m in uncharted territory with how to handle this.

“I love the team and I love the game, but I also love my left leg.”
