Golden State owner Joe Lacob admitted that the team hired Bob Myers as assistant general manager with a succession plan in place, even though there are no guarantees.

"Bob would be expected to ascend to the general manager role," said Lacob.

"There are no guarantees. He and I have had very frank discussions. He’s going to see how he likes it, we’re going to see how we like him and we’ll take it from there."

Lacob also talked about the logic behind hiring Myers, which has been a widely praised move in the media.

"We’re very strong in talent evaluation and you could argue that what we probably don’t have strength in is experience in negotiationg contracts and the rolodex and all that other stuff that some of you have pointed out," said Lacob.

"We thought it would be better to find someone fresh and new who really was a superstar in his own right.

Bob Myers is somebody Danny Ainge introduced me to quite some time ago. I was very impressed with him and kept him in the back of my mind."
