Pat Sullivan was an assistant coach with the Pistons over the past two seasons, but his contract ended on Thursday and is without a team.

Sullivan is a candidate to remain with the team if either Lawrence Frank or Mike Woodson is hired, but the uncertainty will remain indefinitely.

"At the end of the day, the players are paid to have a certain standard of play that they are supposed to be held accountable to, as are coaches," Sullivan said last month. "This is a win business. Not a I-like-you business or you're-a-good-guy business. You hope it's all of that, but at the end of the day and the bottom line is you have to win to obviously keep your job and continue to work.

"I would love to be here. It's a great organization. My family's here, but right now it's a question mark and it's up in the air."
