The 2010-2011 NBA season saw a 4.8% increase in basketball-related income (BRI), according to financial numbers released by the NBA and the NBAPA today.

That increase, coupled with a $100 million decline in negotiated salaries, means that the players did not receive 57% of BRI last season, the threshold established under the previous collective bargaining agreement. As part of the same agreement, they will receive $162 million in total salaries that had been held in escrow by the owners, as well as an additional $26 million to be divided amongst themselves.

How this news affects the current lockout remains to be seen.
