Memphis defeated Tennessee by a 99-97 final in the Maui Invitational on Tuesday.

After a weak offensive performance on Monday against Michigan, Memphis attacked the defense of the Volunteers and created many interior scoring chances. Memphis shot 36-for-70 from the field and 1.27 points per possession.

Will and Antonio Barton combined to score 46 points.

Memphis has been taking much better care of the ball this season than they did in 10-11 when they were one of the most turnover prone teams in the country. Memphis averaged 15.1 turnovers per game last season, which was last in Conference-USA.

They had just 12 turnovers in 75 possessions in the win.
