Vinny Del Negro received the backing from Donald Sterling and Neil Olshey this week and is likely to at least finish out the season as head coach of the Clippers.

"It didn't need to be done but it is appreciated," Del Negro said. "It's a difficult situation. People start talking even though it's not the reality of the situation; it becomes a headache. We're trying to build something special here and do it the right way and when you lose games, you're going to be questioned on things. That's just part of it."

A Twitter report from Bill Simmons that Del Negro had lost control of his team and that he could be fired at any point.

Simmons also reports that Robert Pack would be the choice of Sterling's staff to assume interim duties should Del Negro be fired.
