Keith Smart is focusing on having his Kings remain competitive more than simply 'giving' minutes to players to develop them.

"Most of the time, it's people that don't get the chance to be inside of the locker room that don't really see that," Smart said. "Those of us who dwell in the locker room understand the dynamics of how you're trying to keep a team moving toward a positive way as you finish the season."

Smart said player development isn't limited to getting players into games late in the season.

"They're not going anywhere," Smart said. "They're going to be here in the summer. They're going to be here next year."
