The NBA and NBPA have strong optimism a new collective bargaining agreement can be finalized within the next few weeks.

The two sides have made significant progress during their talks.

The NBA and NBPA each have an opt-out clause they can trigger before Dec. 15th but a deal is expected before then.

There has been a positive spirit of cooperation between Adam Silver and Michele Roberts throughout the process.

A significantly higher rookie contract scale and two-way contracts between the NBA and NBA Development League that will add jobs for the union are expected as part of the deal.

The NBA had a lockout before the 11-12 season that wasn't resolved until December though economic times were far more challenging at that point.
