The Detroit Pistons have hired Ed Stefanski as a senior advisor responsible for overhauling their basketball operations department.

Stefanski will assess the current front office and oversee the process of hiring a general manager and head coach. Stefanski will report directly to Tom Gores.

Stefanski was general manager of the Philadelphia 76ers from 2007 until 2011 before working in the front offices of the Toronto Raptors and Memphis Grizzlies.

The Pistons parted ways with Stan Van Gundy this offseason.
