The opening weekend of the NBA Playoffs competed against The Masters, which generally doesn't happen. The Masters, however, was later than usual in 2019.

While the NBA was fortunate to have the final round of The Masters moved up to the morning due to weather, a tape delayed telecast of Tiger Woods' victory beat ABC's coverage of the Portland Trail Blazers and Oklahoma City Thunder.

The tape delayed Masters had a 3.4 rating compared to 3.3 for the Blazers-Thunder. The game was down 25 percent from last year's 4.4 featuring the Pacers and Cavaliers.

Over the weekend, ratings and viewership declined by double-digits for seven of the eight games. The exception was Saturday's Game 1 between the Warriors and Clippers, which had a 3.0 overnight rating, up seven percent in ratings from last season's ABC opener between the Warriors and Spurs.

TNT’s Pacers-Celtics Game 1 had a 1.2 and 1.81 million — down 40% in ratings and 44% in viewership from last year (Bucks-Celtics: 2.0, 3.20M).
