Sources say LeBron James and Rich Paul did not approach the Los Angeles Lakers about hiring Tyonn Lue as head coach.

James and Lue have, however, spoken within the past few weeks.

The Lakers are expected to formally hire Lue as head coach this week. Lue was head coach of the Cleveland Cavaliers during a season-and-a-half of James' second tenure with the franchise.
