A statistical formula created by Kevin Pelton of ESPN has determined a ranking of the best dynasties of all-time headlined by the Boston Celtics of 1957 through 1969 with a mark of 1.66.

Bill Russell's Celtics won 11 titles and made 12 appearances in The Finals. Eight of Boston's titles came with fewer than 10 teams in the league and they also operated before the salary cap and free agency came into existence.

The 1989-98 Chicago Bulls came in second with a mark of 1.35 as they went six-for-six in The Finals.

The 1980-91 Los Angeles Lakers (1.25) and 1980-88 Boston Celtics (0.96) ranked third and fourth ahead of the 2015-2019 Golden State Warriors (0.92) at No. 5.

The 2001-17 San Antonio Spurs (0.85), 1998-2004 Los Angeles Lakers (0.75), 1949-54 Minneapolis Lakers (0.65), 2011-14 Miami Heat (0.61) and 1987-91 Detroit Pistons (0.53) round out the top-10.
