During a conference call last Friday, Adam Silver stated he could not guarantee the safety of players if play resumed, but he assured them the NBA will do everything in its power to make the conditions as safe as possible.

Sources tell Chris Haynes of Yahoo! Sports that it didn't sit well with some players as a vaccine is not expected to be available for another year or two.

Sources add that the majority of players on teams who have essentially been eliminated from playoff contention would rather have the NBA resume play with the top eight teams in each conference competing in some sort of playoff.

Some teams, such as the Golden State Warriors, have been operating under the assumption that their season is over.
