It is not clear how many NBA players have tested positive for COVID-19, but sources tell Sam Amick of The Athletic that "every NBA player who has tested positive and experienced symptoms has recovered in short order while avoiding hospitalization."

Rudy Gobert was the first player in the NBA who tested positive for COVID-19, while Donovan Mitchell, Christian Wood, Kevin Durant and several other unknown players also tested positive.

Beyond keeping players from contracting COVID-19, the NBA must also weigh the risk of exposing its coaches and staff who are older in age and more at risk of a serious case or death.
