During a recent group chat with his Brooklyn Nets teammates, Kyrie Irving proposed that the players could start their own league, according to Stefan Bondy of the New York Daily News.

The idea to start their own league is not necessarily in response to the bubble situation and it had been broached at prior points this season. According to Ryen Russillo of The Ringer, Kevin Durant was not as enthusiastic about the concept.

Taylor Rooks of Bleacher Report indicates that Irving never said the Nets should begin their own league in response to the bubble, but he did leave the group chat once Bondy's report surfaced.

Irving has been part of a coalition of players addressing concerns about the bubble and seeking to put pressure on the NBA on racial equality issues.
