The current deals Shams Charania has with The Athletic and Stadium expire at the end of August, putting him in the unique position of becoming a free agent in the middle of the NBA playoffs.

Charania joined The Athletic and Stadium in 2018 after previous stops with Yahoo! Sports and RealGM.

Charania "has started exploring whether to move to other outlets when his contracts end," reports John Ourand of Sports Business Journal.

Both The Athletic and Stadium have interest in retaining Charania.
