The Indiana Pacers will have interest in hiring Mike D'Antoni as head coach should he become available.

Nate McMillan was fired as head coach on Wednesday following an extension and subsequent sweep against the Miami Heat in the first round of the playoffs.

D'Antoni is in the final season of his contract with the Houston Rockets and is widely expected to not be retained. D'Antoni has been on the higher end of the pay scale for head coaches and whether the Pacers will set aside the budget to hire him is unclear. The Pacers will also search for candidates they consider to be 'program builders' over the long-term.
