The Golden State Warriors will only use its $17.2 million trade exception for a "special opportunity," sources told Anthony Slater of The Athletic.

The Warriors received the trade exception as part of the Andre Iguodala deal to the Grizzlies last summer.

The trade exception expires seven days after the start of free agency.

Slater cites the Warriors' currently luxury tax bill combined with the uncertainty over the reopening of the Chase Center as reasons for the hesitation.
