The Milwaukee Bucks will be limited in their ability to retain Bobby Portis and Bryn Forbes this offseason due to a lack of Bird rights and the way they each outplayed their 20-21 contracts.

Portis was one of the league's best backup big men and they can only offer a 20 percent raise on last year's salary, which would be approximately $4.35 million. The Bucks could offer their $6 million taxpayer midlevel exception, but he could exceed that offer from a rival team in free agency. Portis has a $3.8 million player option he will assuredly decline.

The Bucks can only offer Forbes a 20 percent raise on his minimum salary, which would bump him up to $2.8 million. With the way the league seeks perimeter shooting, Forbes will likely be able to do better with another team.
