The Los Angeles Lakers and Sacramento Kings have been engaged in discussions on a Kyle Kuzma for Buddy Hield swap. As that deal would require more salary from the Lakers side, Montrezl Harrell could also be headed to the Kings.

In order for Harrell to be traded to Sacramento, he would need to exercise his $9.7 million player option for 2021-22.

The Kings like the fit of Kuzma and Harrell alongside De'Aaron Fox and Tyrese Haliburton. Sacramento is trying to break a 15-year playoff drought, and is expected to try to add win-now talent this offseason.

On the Lakers side, they are trying to retool their roster around LeBron James and Anthony Davis, in hopes of getting back into title contention. According to multiple reports, Kuzma is being shopped, along with Kentavious Caldwell-Pope and the No. 22 pick in the 2021 NBA Draft to bring in help for James and Davis.

The Philadelphia 76ers have also been linked to Hield. It seems likely that a long-rumored Hield trade will be executed this offseason.
