The NBA and NBPA are nearing an agreement to decease the quarantine period for players who test positive for COVID-19.

In some testing cases, the current 10-day quarantine protocol could be shortened to clear players for a quicker return. The quarantine period could be decreased to six days.

ESPN previously reported on Thursday that the possibility of asymptomatic players being permitted to continue with COVID-19 remains "for now, a non-starter."

Allowing players to participate in games with COVID-19 could lead to more infections and wider spread.

On the subject of playing asymptomatic players, Silver told ESPN NBA Today host Malika Andrews on Tuesday, "We're not quite there yet, but we're paying a lot of attention to what other leagues are doing."
