Kyrie Irving has never asked the Brooklyn Nets for a trade, sources told Brian Lewis of the New York Post.

Irving also reportedly has "every intention" to play for the Nets this season, with or without Kevin Durant.

“How did we get into this situation about trade, when [Irving] opted in? Here is the situation. He opted in, which means he had and he has every intention of playing with the Brooklyn Nets. KD decides he wants out and now everybody is talking about trading Kyrie, right? Kyrie has not asked for a trade. Now, if the Nets don’t want him, that’s something totally different," said the source.

Irving is still willing to play for the Nets despite numerous trade rumors linking the guard to the Lakers.

The Nets reportedly will not trade Irving to the Lakers without receiving draft picks in return.
