Oklahoma City residents approved a ballot measure to build a new downtown stadium for the Oklahoma City Thunder on Tuesday.

The proposed stadium has an estimated minimum cost of $900 million. The city will use at least $850 million in taxpayer funds to build the arena, with the Thunder contributing $50 million dollars.

The majority of the stadium will be funded by a six-year penny sales tax starting in 2028.

The ballot passed by 70 percent.

As part of the deal, the Thunder agree to remain in Oklahoma City through at least 2050.
