Pascal Siakam prefers to play out the season and become a free agent should he not agree to a max contract extension with the Toronto Raptors, sources told Marc Stein of Substack.

The Raptors can offer Siakam a four-year, $190 max extension through June 30.

Teams that trade for Siakam can only offer a two-year extension. Siakam is unlikely to agree to the two-year extension and instead become a free agent.

The Mavs have registered interest in Siakam, though Stein adds that it is overstated.

The Pistons and Grizzlies could also emerge as trade candidates for Siakam.
