Hawks' Johnson Might Miss Rest Of Season

Mar 29, 2007 12:51 AM

Hawks leading scorer Joe Johnson might be done for the season due to a right calf strain.

"He could be out for the rest of the season," Hawks coach Mike Woodson said Wednesday before the Hawks' game against Charlotte.

Johnson was injured in a loss at Miami on March 5 and hasn't played since for the Hawks, who are out of the playoff picture.

"He just got off crutches. We're not going to rush him back," Woodson said.

Johnson Could Be Done For Season

Mar 8, 2007 12:10 PM

Joe Johnson could be out three to four weeks, and possibly the remainder of the season due to a deep contusion in his right calf muscle.

Johnson was kicked in the leg by teammate Esteban Batista early in Monday's loss to Miami and was later kneed in the thigh of the same leg by the Heat's Eddie Jones. He played through both injuries.

A hematoma formed under the calf muscle, and Johnson had to go to the hospital early Tuesday morning.

Kapono Leaves Game With Ankle Sprain

Mar 6, 2007 1:01 AM

Heat guard Jason Kapono, the NBA leader in 3-point percentage, sprained his left ankle late in the third quarter of Miami's game against Atlanta on Monday night.

He would not return, the team said.

Kapono jumped to defend a jumper by Atlanta's Joe Johnson, and his left foot landed on the foot of Heat teammate James Posey. Kapono's ankle twisted awkwardly, he remained on the floor in pain and was quickly tended to by Miami trainer Ron Culp.
