Anthony Davis Trade Expected To Be Executed On July 6th

Jun 20, 2019 6:58 PM

The Los Angeles Lakers' trade with the New Orleans Pelicans for Anthony Davis is expected to completed on July 6th, sources tell Sam Amick of The Athletic.

The Pelicans hold control on the timing of the trade. The Lakers would need to incentivize the PElicans by adding extra pieces.

A July 6th trade will leave the Lakers with $23.7 million in cap room or $27.7 million if Davis waives his trade kicker.

The Pelicans have traded the No. 4 pick to the Atlanta Hawks. The Hawks expect to have that player for Summer League.

Pelicans Could Trade No. 4, Solomon Hill's Contract To Hawks

Jun 20, 2019 9:55 AM

The Atlanta Hawks are pursuing the No. 4 overall pick, which the New Orleans Pelicans have made available in trade talks.

The Hawks own the No. 8, No. 10 and No. 17 picks in the draft and could package some combination of those selections. Atlanta also has cap space and could absorb a onerous contract from the Pelicans such as Solomon Hill.

The Pelicans acquired the pick from the Los Angeles Lakers in the Anthony Davis trade.

New Orleans has had conversations with other teams on the No. 4 pick as well.

Brian Windhorst added that the Pelicans are more interested in players who can contribute immediately than draft selections.

"They have aspirations for this season," said Windhorst.
