Hawks Sign Armoni Brooks To Exhibit 10 Deal

The Atlanta Hawks have signed guard Armoni Brooks.

Brooks played three collegiate seasons at University of Houston and in 37 games (36 starts) as a junior last year, averaged 13.4 points and 6.3 rebounds in 30.7 minutes (.405 FG%, .390 3FG%, .630 FT%) en route to All-AAC Second Team and All-AAC Tournament First Team honors. The 6’3” guard led the conference in three-pointers made (121) and was second in 3FG%.

The Atlanta Hawks have signed forward Marcus Derrickson to an Exhibit 10 deal.

In 11 games last season with the Golden State Warriors, Derrickson averaged 4.2 points and 1.2 rebounds in 6.1 minutes (.485 FG%, .500 3FG%, .800 FT%). In 35 games (all starts) with the Santa Cruz Warriors of the NBA G League, he compiled 13.7 points, 5.6 rebounds and 1.9 assists in 27.2 minutes (.467 FG%, .421 3FG%, .841 FT%).

The 6’7” forward signed a contract with Golden State on Aug. 13, 2018, and had that deal converted into a two-way contract on Oct. 13, 2018.

Hawks Extend Contract Of Travis Schlenk

The Atlanta Hawks have promoted Travis Schlenk to President of Basketball Operations and General Manager while also extending his contract.

“We are extremely pleased with the direction that Travis and our entire basketball operations team has us heading as a franchise. He has used the draft to build an impressive young core, hired one of the NBA’s top young coaches in Lloyd Pierce and positioned us to have the cap space, draft picks and financial flexibility needed to have long-term success in the NBA,” Hawks Principal Owner Tony Ressler said.

In his third season leading Hawks’ Basketball Operations, Schlenk is a veteran of nearly 20 years in the NBA. He joined the Hawks after 13 years with Golden State, including the final six as Assistant General Manager.

Hawks Sign Brandon Goodwin To Two-Way Deal

The Atlanta Hawks have signed guard Brandon Goodwin to a two-way contract.

Goodwin appeared in 16 games last season with the Denver Nuggets, averaging 1.4 points in 3.6 minutes. In 26 games (25 starts) between the Iowa Wolves and the Memphis Hustle of the NBA G League, he averaged 22.0 points, 7.0 rebounds, 5.3 assists and 1.6 steals in 36.8 minutes (.490 FG%, .379 3FG%, .724 FT%).

He originally signed with the Memphis Grizzlies on September 4, 2018 and was waived on October 13, 2018. Goodwin signed with the Nuggets on November 29, 2018 and was waived on December 10, 2018. On December 16, 2018, he signed a two-way contract with the Nuggets.

Vince Carter Agrees To One-Year Deal With Hawks

Vince Carter has agreed to a one-year deal with the Atlanta Hawks.

Carter will retire following his record 22nd NBA season.

Carter will pass Dirk Nowitzki, Kevin Garnett, Kevin Willis and Robert Parish, all of whom played 21 NBA seasons.

It is widely expected that Carter will become a broadcaster upon retirement.
