The Los Angeles Lakers have waived Jose Calderon.
Calderon is expected to sign with the Golden State Warriors once he clears waivers.
According to Chris Hayes of ESPN, there was internal support for the Warriors to sign Brandon Jennings but they were too far along with Calderon to change courses. Jennings was waived by the New York Knicks on Monday.
Briante Weber has agreed upon a 10-day deal with the Charlotte Hornets.
The Golden State Warriors decided not to re-sign Weber after the expiration of his second 10-day deal in order to sign Jose Calderon.
Weber averaged 1.7 points, 0.6 rebounds and 0.7 assists in 6.6 minutes over seven games with the Warriors.
Weber went undrafted in 2015 out of VCU.
The Golden State Warriors are strong favorites to sign Jose Calderon if he's bought out by the Los Angeles Lakers.
The Warriors released Briante Weber after Saturday's game.
“It’ll be a point guard,” Steve Kerr said. “We think we have something in place, but it’s not finalized. Got to wait until it’s official.”
Calderon only appeared in 24 games this season, starting 11, and only averaging 3.3 points per game with the Lakers.
The Golden State Warriors reached out to TNT to express concern about JaVale McGee's continued presence on "Shaqin' a Fool."
A Turner source confirmed the discussions with the Warriors and told ESPN that "the matter has been discussed internally" after a Twitter feud erupted Thursday night between Shaquille O'Neal and McGee.
McGee has been a frequent target of O'Neal over the years, but the network took it a step further Thursday night when it aired a "Doctor Strange" piece devoted exclusively to McGee bloopers.
That prompted a nasty exchange of tweets Thursday night between McGee and O'Neal in which McGee told the Hall of Famer to stop talking about him in explicit fashion, followed by O'Neal threatening to "smack the s**t out yo bum ass."
Kevin Durant and Steve Kerr both defended McGee on Friday.
"He works extremely hard," Durant said Friday. "He's come in here and done so much for us as a player, He only wants to be respected, just like anybody else.
"I understand that Shaq works for a company that wants him to do that type of stuff and make fun of players ... but when you just keep doing it time and time and time again, for no reason, and the guy actually disagrees with you and you threaten him ... I didn't know cops could threaten civilians like that."
Durant was referring to O'Neal's status as a reserve police officer in South Florida.
"It's definitely childish," Durant said. "But that's what they want from these stars and these retired players ... to feud with the guys playing now. If I was JaVale, I'd feel the same way. It's childish."
Said Kerr: "JaVale has been fantastic for us, as a player, a teammate, fantastic guy. He's funny, he's fun to be around, he does his job. He's a total pro.
"I don't blame him for being frustrated. Shaq's been picking on him for years and years and years. I think JaVale, and rightfully so, I feel like he's frustrated. It's like, 'It never ends.' It's one thing to just have a little fun, but I think you can go a little bit over the top."
Kerr acknowledged being influenced by the TNT segments.
"You think about JaVale's career. When you're in this position, where somebody on national TV is making fun of you night after night after night, it's not the greatest thing for your reputation. I can tell you I had a preconceived notion of JaVale before he got here that turned out to be totally false. And a lot of that was because of what goes on with Shaq's 'Shaqtin' A Fool.'"
During the opening minute of the Golden State Warriors' win over the Los Angeles Clippers, Draymond Green began talking trash during a free throw to Paul Pierce sitting on the bench.
“Chasing that farewell tour, they don’t love you like that," said Green. "You can’t get no farewell tour, they don’t love you like that. You ain’t got that type of love. You thought you was Kobe.”

Pierce was critical of Kevin Durant's decision to leave the Thunder for the Warriors in the offseason, which prompted a reply from Green.
"I just wonder at what point do they get bored talking about the same thing. You got all these guys talking. Like (Paul) Pierce today, like, dude nobody care what you did or who you did it for. Just give it a break."
Pierce replied on Twitter after the game.
73 wins and u thought u was gonna win a title that yr 😂😂😂3-1 lead oops

Andrew Bogut is expected to agree upon a buyout with the Philadelphia 76ers and a loophole in the CBA will allow him to return to the Golden State Warriors.
The Warriors traded Bogut to the Dallas Mavericks in the offseason to help clear salary cap space to sign Kevin Durant. The Mavericks traded Bogut to the 76ers in a package for Nerlens Noel at the deadline.
The reacquisition restriction rule only applies to the "last trade" and not all prior trades as well.
According to a source, the NBA is interpreting that the "last trade" designation technically applies to the Mavericks only.
It is not year clear if the Warriors will have interest in Bogut, who figures to receive interest from the Cavaliers and Celtics.
According to Marc Stein, the Warriors will consider all options but they have been focused on targeting guards or signing Briante Weber for the remainder of the season. The Warriors have Zaza Pachulia, David West and JaVale McGee on their depth chart for big man minutes, though they recently waived Anderson Varejao.
The Los Angeles Lakers' original top target to become their next general manager was Bob Myers, who recently signed an extension with the Golden State Warriors.
The Lakers are pivoting to Rob Pelinka as their top candidate. Pelinka has strong ties to the Lakers due to his years representing Kobe Bryant and Derek Fisher.
Neil Olshey is another candidate though he's under contract with the Portland Trail Blazers.
Lakers assistant general manager Ryan West has a strong relationship and history with Pelinka, and would likely be considered a significant part of a new front-office regime.
Pelinka would have to divest from his business as an agent in order to become the Lakers' GM.
Four years before Kevin Durant left the Oklahoma City Thunder via free agency, James Harden was traded by the team to the Houston Rockets.
Harden has remained close with both Durant and Russell Westbrook, who have had a famously icy rivalry in the months since Durant signed with the Warriors.
“They’re two grown men,” Harden said. “They have to figure it out themselves.”
Durant was asked how he's dealt with potential distractions.
“Sometimes it’s tough,” he said. “But when you just block it out, it’s kind of easy. Don’t look at stuff and don’t pay attention. Stuff that you guys think is important, I don’t think it’s important at all. When you look at it that way, it’s pretty easy to me.”
Kevin Durant is expected to become a free agent this offseason and his new max deal is projected to start at $36 million.
Since the Golden State Warriors don't have full Bird rights on Durant, they would have to use cap space to re-sign Durant.
Durant could instead re-sign with the Warriors with a starting salary of $31.8 million, which is a 20 percent increase from this season and $4 million less than his projected max. The lower salary allows the Warriors to sign Durant under his non-Bird rights and they could then go over the cap to retain Shaun Livingston and Andre Iguodala, who will also be free agents.
Durant was asked if that’s something he would consider.
“We’ll figure that out when the time comes,” Durant said.
On Friday, Draymond Green told reporters that he’d always be willing to take less money to ensure a good situation remains intact, saying that money “can sabotage winning.”
“I don’t feel the need to go tell Shaun and Andre: ‘Yo, go take less money, money isn’t everything,’” Green said. “I don’t feel the need to say that, nor will I say that. You can’t tell what guy what money he should make or what’s important to him or his pocket. I don’t count anyone else’s pocket. Will we recruit them and want them back? Hell yeah. We’ll do everything we can to get them back. But I’m not going to tell them, ‘Hey, man, you should stay here for a little less money. You don’t need that money.’ That’s not me.”
Stephen Curry will also be a free agent but the Warriors have the luxury of his small cap hold and full Bird rights.
