Warriors Decline Option On Kevon Looney, Pick Up Damian Jones'

Oct 31, 2017 9:53 AM

The Golden State Warriors have declined their fourth-year option on Kevon Looney while picking up their third-year option on Damian Jones.

Looney would have been owed $2.2 million next season, making the Warriors pay nearly double that in luxury taxes.

Looney will become an unrestricted free agent in 2018.

Jones has spent time recently with the Warriors’ G-League team in Santa Cruz.

Draymond Green, Bradley Beal Ejected Following Scuffle

Oct 28, 2017 12:11 AM

Draymond Green and Bradley Beal were both ejected from Friday night's game shortly before halftime.

Beal slapped Green in the face from behind, which led Green to grab Beal. The two remained locked as the scuffle spilled into the baseline.

Green had received a technical foul earlier in the game.

Green spoke with ESPN about the incident while the game was still in progress.

"I don't know what I'm supposed to do if someone hits you twice. Man, you're taught as a kid not to allow that. What was I supposed to do?

Green was asked if there's history with Bea.

"There's history with me and the NBA. That's the only reason I can think of why I was ejected."

Stephen Curry: I'm The Best Version Of Myself To Date

Oct 16, 2017 3:16 PM

While Stephen Curry has won two MVPs, he believes he may be entering his absolute prime.

“I hope it is,” Curry told The Athletic. “You go through this NBA journey and every year you learn something else about yourself, about your team, about being an NBA player. Using all that experience to my advantage, the work you put in off the court in the summertime to get yourself ready. I don't know exactly where the peak is, but I do think I'm the best version of myself to date.”

Curry was asked whether he would like to compete for an MVP again this season.

“That's such a tough question,” Curry said. “Because obviously, everybody wants to be in that conversation, wants to get votes and be recognized for having the best year individually. But when I won my first two, that wasn't what I was playing for. I don't have that perspective — oh, I need to go play for an MVP. Really, when Tuesday happens, my mentality is to help my team win games, be aggressive, play my best basketball and usually that means good things will happen individually and as a team. If I have to trade off a couple MVP votes for a championship, so be it. But hopefully I can be in the conversation for both.”

Klay Thompson: Warriors Aspiring To Be Like 1990s Bulls

Oct 7, 2017 10:19 AM

Klay Thompson said the Golden State Warriors are aspiring to be the 1990s Chicago Bulls of their era.

The Bulls won six titles in eight seasons in the 1990s.

"What's that, six championships in eight years?" Thompson said Saturday, when asked whether the Warriors were the closest thing the league had seen to the Bulls dynasty. "So we're, what, like only a third of the way there? I think it's close. We still have a long way to go, but I do see the fandom, the fanfare like the Bulls had in the '90s.

"Every time the Bulls came to town, that was the ticket of the year. Now it's when the Warriors come to town, that's the must-see game. And we don't take that for granted; that's such a cool position to be in. We rarely play in front of a crowd that's not sold out. That's so special. It's hard to really grasp that as a player. So I think it's close. I still think we're not on their level yet, but that's what we aspire to be of the 2000s. We aspire to be that dynasty that will be in the minds of NBA fans forever."

Steve Kerr, who won three titles as a member of the Bulls, is already trying to temper those type of expectations for his team.

"We can't match what the Bulls did," Kerr said, when asked about the possibility earlier in the week. "They won six championships in eight years. And we have two in three years, which is great, but we'd like to keep going. We'd like to win more, so we have a chance to do something great not only this year but the next few years. But we have to work hard and also get lucky too. You have to stay healthy and things have to go your way, so we'll do our best and enjoy the ride while we're on it."
