Brandon Ingram Leaves Game With Soreness In Right Knee

Oct 29, 2016 8:16 AM

Brandon Ingram left the Los Angeles Lakers' loss on Friday to the Utah Jazz with a sore right knee.

Ingram will be re-evaluated on Saturday.

"There's no way we're going to get him out there playing again until we know 100 percent that there's nothing wrong with his knee," Luke Walton said.

Ingram felt soreness in the first half when he tried to run but later said it is "nothing really serious."

Lakers Experimenting With Brandon Ingram At Point Guard

Oct 27, 2016 9:23 AM

The Los Angeles Lakers used Brandon Ingram at point guard in his NBA debut.

With Jose Calderon injured and Nick Young starting, Ingram showed promise bringing the ball up the floor.

“It helps engage him in the game. He’s a great basketball player and has a great feel for the game,” Luke Walton said. “When you’re handling the ball, even when you’re not shooting, just making passes. It’s a great way to force you into the game.”

“I felt like they went away when I got to the point guard position a little bit,” Ingram said.

“Knowing I can play-make for myself and play-make for other guys. When I got to the point guard position, it got a lot easier for me. I was making plays for my other teammates and making plays for myself.”

The Milwaukee Bucks have successfully used Giannis Antetokounmpo at point guard over the past year.

D'Angelo Russell: There's Freedom In Kobe Not Being Around

Oct 26, 2016 7:38 PM

D'Angelo Russell and the Los Angeles Lakers begin life without Kobe Bryant this season and he feels like it will be a liberating experience.

"We're all about playing together now," said Bryant. "It's not about one guy anymore. It's about sacrificing for the team." Adds Russell, "Kobe deserved every bit of attention he got in his last year, but there's freedom in Kobe not being around."

Russell was the second overall pick in the 2015 NBA Draft and will have the biggest role on offense for the Lakers.

Russell scored 13.2 points in 28.2 minutes per game last season with a True Shooting Percentage of .507 and usage of 24.1 percent.

Yi Jianlian Waived By Lakers

Oct 24, 2016 1:25 PM

The Los Angeles Lakers have waived Yi Jianlian.

Yi and his representatives asked for his release as the role he envisioned for himself didn't materialize during the preseason.

Yi was signed by the Lakers in August to a one-year, $8 million deal that was uniquely structured, featuring $6.8 million in what the league deemed "likely" bonuses.

The Lakers had been pursuing Yi for the past two offseasons before they finally managed to sign him to a deal and bring him back to the NBA.

Lakers To Wear 1980s Throwbacks For Select Games

Oct 21, 2016 7:43 PM

The Los Angeles Lakers are expected to wear Magic Johnson-era throwbacks from the 1980s at some point this season, according to multiple sources.

The Lakers' previous yellow uniforms had purple numbers with a white shadow compared to their current white numbers with a purple outline that were introduced for the 99-00 season when the team moved from The Forum to Staples Center.

The white numbers actually was a nod to the uniforms during the Jerry West and Elgin Baylor era of the franchise.

Lakers Would Like To Keep Metta World Peace As Assistant Coach

Oct 21, 2016 11:18 AM

The Los Angeles Lakers would like to hire Metta World Peace as an assistant coach if he doesn't make their regular season roster.

World Peace's mentorship to the Lakers' young players last season was a big reason why he received a camp invite this year.

The competition for the 15th roster spot is better this season due to the play of Yi Jianlian and Thomas Robinson. Nick Young has also played well in preseason after an offseason in which his future with the Lakers was uncertain.

World Peace would like to continue his playing career.
