Bucks Unafraid To Deviate From Long-Term Strategy Ahead Of Deadline

Jan 28, 2010 11:26 AM

Milwaukee is prepared to deviate from its strategy of clearing cap space for this summer if the right trade presents itself before the deadline.

"If the right opportunity comes up for us, the right player with a contract that we may not deem to be favorable, that doesn't mean we will necessarily say no to that," GM John Hammond said. "If it's the right player and a player we think we can move forward with and it might have an effect on our flexibility, we may still do a deal for that."

The Bucks have many short-term contracts, giving them greater flexibility.

"We are always going to keep our thoughts and our minds open as to how we can improve today and how we can improve our team tomorrow," he said. "We are not so locked in to say we won't take a contract that extends beyond one year or two years. If it is the right player for us, we would pull the trigger."

Milwaukee To Sign Stackhouse

Jan 17, 2010 2:55 PM

The Milwaukee Bucks will sign Jerry Stackhouse to a contract for the remainder of the 2009-10 season, according to NBA front-office sources.

Sources told ESPN.com that Stackhouse is expected to formally sign with the Bucks on Monday or possibly Tuesday.

After an audition for the New York Knicks in August, Stackhouse rejected an invitation to Houston Rockets training camp in October to replace the injured Rashad McCants when the Rockets told Stackhouse he'd have to win a roster spot in camp to stick.

Joe Alexander Getting Closer To Court

Jan 16, 2010 7:47 PM

Bucks forward Joe Alexander is getting close to the active roster.

Alexander hasn't played yet this season because of a right hamstring injury suffered in late September, shortly before training camp.

The second-year player went through a full-contact, five-on-five scrimmage on Thursday.

"He looked 100%," Milwaukee coach Scott Skiles said of Alexander. "He probably needs one more practice so everybody feels comfortable behind him."

The Bucks took Alexander with the eighth overall pick in the 2008 NBA Draft.

Redd To Have Surgery Soon, Isn't Giving Up

Jan 13, 2010 7:19 AM

Bucks guard Michael Redd plans to have surgery on his left knee earlier this time in order to give himself more time to prepare for a comeback.

Redd is out for the season after blowing out his knee on Sunday against the Lakers. He plans on having surgery in February, which would be about a month earlier than he did last season following the same injury.

"We're going to go at it again," said Redd. "This (earlier surgery) will give me a full summer to rehab.

"It's just the pain of going through rehab again and surgery again. That's the frustrating thing about it. It's been a difficult, difficult year but I believe the best is yet to come still.

"I came back this year when a lot of people thought I couldn't and I'm going to try it again. So that's where I'm at. I was shaken and hurt by it and devastated. But as the same time, talking to my wife, she really encouraged me (and said), 'You've got more left in you.' "

Farmar Imposter, Jennings Feuding On Twitter

Jan 12, 2010 1:47 AM

Brandon Jennings and a person claiming to be Jordan Farmar have exchanged some heated 'Tweets' on their respective Twitter accounts.

The Lakers beat the Bucks 95-77 on Sunday night and Jennings posted on Twitter to one of his contacts "hit my phone I'll tell you the real on that Farmar thing."

It is not sure what Jennings was referring to, but the fake Farmar quickly replied, "What you gonna say Buck (Jennings' nickname)? Heard there is some ish talking on here..."

From there, the conversation started to escalate.

Jennings (YUNGBUCK3) tweeted:  "nah i was just telling the homie how thirsty you are.  That's all.  But I'm not going to make this a big thing."

Fake Farmar (JFarmar1) tweeted: "Am not here to start nothing.  You were talking smack on here wanted to clear some air.  Look at the bling, done proved myself"

Fake Farmar: "You started with the smack talking, and I ended it with the 2 threes.  We even?  Cool."

Jennings:  "but I'm not going to beef with you.  See you should be worried about your spot.  Shannon Brown??? That's all imma say."

Shannon Brown scored 19 points against Milwaukee on 8 of 12 shooting.  Farmar posted 17 points in 22 minutes on 5 of 8 shooting.  And Jennings connected on just 4 of 17 field goals for 10 points.

Fake Farmar later Tweeted to his fans, "People need to realize that I am not here to beef with Buck or extend it.  Here to simply communicate with the Laker fans.  Repeat!"

He then tweeted, "On a side note, Tyreke Evans really doing his thing.  My pick for Rookie of the Year, no doubt.  No one comes close."

Jennings was fined $7,500 earlier in the season by the NBA for using his Twitter account in the team's locker room following a game.  The Lakers and Bucks will not face each other again in the regular season.

Correction: An earlier version of this article erroneously cited that the conversation was with the real Jordan Farmar.

Redd Out For Season With ACL, MCL Tears

Jan 11, 2010 5:30 PM

Michael Redd suffered tears to the anterior cruciate ligament and medial collateral ligament of his left knee during the game Sunday.  He will miss the remainder of the season.

This is the same injury -- tears to both knee ligaments -- that Redd suffered approximately one year ago.

Redd is 30 years of age and the injury is considered career threatening.

?We are deeply disappointed for Michael who worked so hard to make it back from this injury,? said John Hammond in a statement to RealGM.  ?We know Michael will work tirelessly to get himself healthy again and we will support him fully in his efforts.

?Although Michael is out for the season, we still have over half the season to play.  That gives all of our players, especially our younger guys, the opportunity to earn more playing time the rest of the season."

Redd Leaves Game After Hurting Knee

Bucks guard Michael Redd left Sunday's game against the Lakers after hurting his left knee in the second quarter.

He immediately went to the locker room and did not return.

Redd has struggled with knee problems in recent seasons and it appears as though he may have suffered a setback in his on-going recovery from left knee surgery.
