Josh Huestis Signs Four-Year Rookie Deal With Thunder

Jul 30, 2015 6:02 PM

Josh Huestis, the 29th overall selection in the 2014 NBA draft, has signed a four-year, rookie scale contract with the Oklahoma City Thunder, league sources told RealGM.

Huestis became the first domestic draft-and-stash a year ago out of Stanford University, agreeing to be the Thunder selection and placed into their D-League affiliate for one season. Huestis was in Oklahoma City on Thursday afternoon to sign his deal, which contains two guaranteed seasons and two option years.

Oklahoma City now stands at 15 guaranteed contracts on the roster.

In 44 games for the OKC Blue, Huestis averaged 10.3 points, 5.7 rebounds and 1.6 blocks. He spent the majority of the season sharpening his ability to be a three-point shooting, defensive wing for the Thunder in 2015-16.

Huestis showed activity on both ends of the floor during the Orlando summer league in 2014, averaging eight points and 2.3 rebounds in 19.7 minutes over four games. The 6-foot-7 forward sat out summer league this year due to a torn pectoral injury.

Huestis, 23, had a standout career at Stanford, scoring 11.2 points and grabbing 8.2 rebounds per game as a senior.

Most Execs Expect Kevin Durant To Re-Sign With Thunder In 2016

Jul 13, 2015 1:01 PM

Kevin Durant will become a free agent in 2016 and most league executives informally polled at Summer League by Ken Berger expect him to re-sign with the Oklahoma City Thunder.

The Los Angeles Lakers, Dallas Mavericks and Washington Wizards are likely the only realistic options for Durant should he entertain leaving the Thunder.

Durant could earn an additional $40 million in salary if he were to sign a one-year deal with the Thunder in 2016 to become a free agent again in 2017. Durant would qualify for the 35 percent max available in 2017.

Thunder Match Enes Kanter's Offer Sheet With Blazers

Jul 12, 2015 11:29 PM

The Oklahoma City Thunder have matched the offer sheet signed by Enes Kanter with the Portland Trail Blazers.

Kanter signed a maximum-level four-year deal with a player option on the fourth year with the Blazers on Thursday worth $70 million.

The Thunder were able to match the offer sheet Kanter signed due to his restricted free agency status.

"We traded for Enes last season with the intention of keeping him as a member of the Thunder for several years to come, and we are excited that he will continue with us," Thunder general manager Sam Presti said in a statement. "He adds valuable depth to our roster, diversity to our frontcourt and the dimension that he brings offensively will positively impact our team."

Kanter's contract includes a trade kicker, which would force the Thunder to pay up to 15 percent of his remaining salary if traded within his new deal.

Durant On Aldridge: You've Got To Focus On You At This Point Of Your Career

Jul 4, 2015 3:34 PM

Kevin Durant was asked at the Orlando Summer League if he was surprised by LaMarcus Aldridge's decision to leave the Portland Trail Blazers to sign with the San Antonio Spurs.

"No, I wasn't," said Durant. "You could kind of tell once this whole thing started that he was trying to go somewhere else. But in those decisions, man, you've just got to respect the guy for making a decision that was right for him. I know a lot of fans were probably upset in Portland with the decision. But at this point of your life and your career, you've got to focus on you. I said this last year when Mr. James made his decision, it was pretty cool to see a guy do what he wants to do and not worry about what everybody thinks."

Durant himself will be a free agent in 2016 for the first time in his career.
