Kevin Durant Rants Against Media Treatment Of Kobe Bryant

Nov 30, 2015 1:32 PM

Kevin Durant continues to be hypersensitive on media matters, going on a rant when asked about his reaction to the announcement by Kobe Bryant that he will retire at the end of the season.

"I did idolize Kobe Bryant. I studied him, wanted to be like him. He was our Michael Jordan. I watched Michael toward the end of his career with the Wizards and I seen that's what Kobe emerged as the guy for us.

"I've been disappointed this year because you guys (media) treated him like (expletive). He's a legend and all I hear is about how bad he's playing, how bad he's shooting, time for him to hang it up. You guys treated one of our legends like (expletive) and I didn't like it.

"Hopefully now you can start being nice to him now that he decided to retire after the year. It was sad the way he was getting treated.

"He had just an amazing career, a guy who changed the game for me as a player mentally and physically. Means so much to the game of basketball. Someone I'm always gonna look to advice for anything. Just a brilliant, brilliant, intelligent man. Sad to see him go. He put his mark on the game."

Reggie Jackson On OKC Boos: I Kind Of Love To Be Hated

Nov 28, 2015 12:51 PM

Reggie Jackson was booed loudly in his first game at the Oklahoma City Thunder since he was traded to the Detroit Pistons.

Jackson had 15 points, five rebounds and four assists in 27 minutes.

"I knew what time it was when I got in," Jackson said of the crowd reaction. "I'm not really tripping. It doesn't bother me.

"I kind of love to be hated. It's flattering. I think it's the greatest kind of love. It's love and spite at the same time. They wouldn't boo me if I didn't do anything to build some memories here, so obviously, if they booed me, that means I did something special."

The Thunder traded Jackson last February a few months after they were unable to agree upon a contract extension.

Kevin Durant To Return From Hamstring Injury This Week

Nov 23, 2015 4:34 PM

Kevin Durant is on course to return to the lineup this week.

Durant missed the past six games with a strained left hamstring.

Durant was not cleared to play in Sunday night's home win over Dallas, but it's believed that either Monday night's visit to Utah or Wednesday's home game against Brooklyn is a strong possibility for his return.

Durant suffered the injury on Nov. 10.

Kevin Durant Has 'Real Brotherhood Type Relationship' With Westbrook

Nov 21, 2015 11:09 AM

Kevin Durant elaborated on his friendship with Russell Westbrook in an interview with The Oklahoman.

"There's times where we go at it," Durant told The Oklahoman. "There's times I don't like what he's doing out on the court. There's times where he hates what I'm doing out on the court. There's times where it's 'Russ, you gotta control your attitude,' or 'KD, you gotta stop, you gotta speak up,' whatever.

"There's times we cuss each other out, but that's a part of being brothers. Because I know if I need something, he'll be there and if I need to talk to someone outside of basketball, he'll be there. It's a real brotherhood type relationship. We're like family."

Durant says anyone who speculates about a rift between the teammates is being "disrespectful."

"How can you tell? That's my whole question," Durant said. "What are you basing that off of? Because he shoots more than I do one game? That don't make no sense. We don't like each other because he shot more? That don't make no sense.

"And it's really disrespectful to me or to us because you think I'm that selfish of a person. I don't like this guy because he shoots more than me? That's disrespectful to me. Because if I'm a friend, I'm genuine. I'm there, no matter what. Good days, bad days, more shots. I'm a real friend."

Kevin Durant's Hamstring 'Feeling Way Better'

Nov 16, 2015 2:00 PM

Kevin Durant will be out at least another two games but his hamstring is progressing in an encouraging way.

"Feeling a lot better," he said. "Way better, actually."

Durant will be reevaluated in a few days and has yet to practice.

"Hamstrings are a little different," Durant said. "You can re-injure them pretty easily if you try and play through it, or as we say now, 'Be tough.' I call that being dumb. But hamstring strains you can't really try and play through it. Just got to get it right and make sure everything is perfect when I come back to play."

Durant missed 55 games last season due to numerous surgeries on his foot.
