The Raptors only have a half-game lead over the 76ers for the sixth seed with just a few weeks left in the regular season. The San Antonio Spurs knocked off the Houston Rockets in a big way on Sunday night. Tony Parker and Michael Finley both notched 22 points and 6 rebounds for the Spurs, who shot 53% from the floor and outrebounded Houston by five. Luis Scola starred with 24 points and 7 rebounds, and Tracy McGrady added 13 points, 6 assists, and 5 boards for the Rockets, who hit just 40% of their shots and turned the ball over just six times. Manu Ginobili tallied 14 points, 6 rebounds, and 5 assists in the victory while Kurt Thomas added 10 points and 7 boards for the Spurs, who moved into a tie with the Hornets for first place in the Western Conference.

The Minnesota Timberwolves outscored the Utah Jazz by eight points last night en route to a tough road win. Al Jefferson had 22 points and 8 rebounds, and Corey Brewer added 16 points and 7 boards for the Wolves, who shot 53% from the floor and scored 20 points off turnovers. Carlos Boozer starred for the Jazz with 25 points and 10 rebounds, and Deron Williams added 15 points and 13 assists in the loss. Utah still has a 2.5 game lead over the Nuggets for the lead in the Northwest Division, but they dropped to 16-22 on the road this season.

The Boston Celtics used a 32-13 first quarter advantage to defeat the Miami Heat last night. Chris Quinn had 14 points and 8 assists for the Heat while Ricky Davis posted 14 points and 6 rebounds in the blowout loss. Miami shot just 26% from the field, including a 4-for-19 performance from behind the three-point line. Boston has a firm grasp on the league?s best record while Miami has been the NBA?s worst team for a majority of the season.

Andre Iguodala starred with 19 points and 5 rebounds, and Andre Miller tallied 16 points and 9 assists for the Sixers, who where 3-for-13 from behind the three-point line and are still a half-game behind Toronto for the sixth seed in the Eastern Conference.

Despite a huge fourth-quarter run by the Toronto Raptors, the New Orleans Hornets came out victorious last night. David West had 32 points and 7 rebounds, and Chris Paul posted 20 points, 16 assists, and 6 boards for the Hornets, who hit 60% of their shots and took great care of the basketball. Chris Bosh led the Raptors with 21 points and 7 rebounds, and Jose Calderon contributed 10 points and 11 assists off the bench in the loss. Toronto, who shot 52% from the floor, has now lost eight of their last eleven.

Josh Howard led the Mavericks with 36 points and 9 rebounds while Jason Kidd tallied 13 points, 14 assists, and 9 boards in the loss. Golden State turned the ball over just eight times and grabbed six more offensive rebounds than Dallas. The Warriors and Mavericks have moved into a three-way tie with the Nuggets for the seventh seed in the Western Conference.

Kevin Durant led the Sonics in defeat with 25 points while Earl Watson posted 20 points and 12 assists, and rookie Jeff Green added 21 points. Superb bench play from Francisco Garcia and John Salmons proved to be the difference for Sacramento.

The Los Angeles Lakers outlasted the Washington Wizards in overtime on Sunday night for their fiftieth win of the season. Kobe Bryant had 26 points and 13 assists, and Lamar Odom added 10 points, 13 rebounds, and 7 dimes for the Lakers, who hit 49% of their shots and took good care of the ball in the win. Caron Butler had 17 points, 12 rebounds, and 12 assists for the Wizards in the hard-fought loss while rookie Nick young added 27 points off the bench. Washington used a 39-28 third quarter run to get back in the game, and Butler hit a three-pointer with nine seconds left in regulation to force overtime.

Raptors Say They Will Re-Sign Calderon

The Raptors plan to re-sign point guard Jose Calderon this summer, according to the Toronto Star.

"Jose's going to be signed," said GM Bryan Colangelo. "We have every intention to sign Jose Calderon."

Many would consider the re-signing of Calderon to spell the end for T.J. Ford with the Raptors.

RealGM Note: Calderon (ranked 21st in season FIC) currently has a Reina Value of +457%, making him one of the biggest bargains in the NBA.

Raptors Sign Johnson, Waive Martin

The Toronto Raptors have signed forward Linton Johnson to a 10-day contract and waived guard Darrick Martin, according to NBA.com.

Johnson has spent time with Chicago, San Antonio, New Jersey, New Orleans, and Phoenix. He averaged a career-best 5.3 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 18.1 minutes with New Orleans during the 2005-06 season.

Martin had seen action in 17 games this season with the Raptors, averaging 1.6 points, 1.2 assists, and 8.3 minutes.

Ford, Rasho To Start For Raps Wednesday

Toronto Head Coach Sam Mitchell will start T.J. Ford and Rasho  Nesterovic against Detroit on Wednesday night, according to the National Post.

That means that Jose Calderon and Andrea Bargnani will come off the bench for the Raptors.

Calderon reportedly asked Mitchell to start Ford over him because the two players have thrived in the opposing roles. Toronto enjoyed great success with Ford and Nesterovic in the starting line-up last season.

Bosh Challenges His Toronto Teammates

Chris Bosh doesn't understand why the Raptors tend to crumble in pressure situations on the court, according to the Toronto Sun.

"We just have to play basketball down the stretch because we don't worry about it in the first two quarters so why worry about in the fourth," Bosh said.

"I know it gets harder down the stretch in games, but we should step our game up instead of taking steps back," Bosh added.

Bargnani Sent For CT Scan Thursday

Andrea Bargnani of the Raptors was sent for a CT Scan on Thursday because of persistent soreness along the bridge of his nose, according to The Star (Toronto).

He was accidentally hit in the face by teammate Jamario Moon on Monday night during their game against Utah. X-rays after the game revealed no damage, but Toronto has decided to look deeper into the injury.

Heat Held To 54, Lose By 42 To Raptors

The Miami Heat continue to hit new lows, the latest coming Wednesday night when the Raptors held them to 54 points, which is the third lowest since the shot clock was introduced in 1954-55, according to the Associated Press.

The Raptors ended up taking the game 96-54.

"I feel real bad for (the players) that they couldn't make a few shots and just get out of the record books but that's the way it goes," Heat coach Pat Riley said.

Bosh Plans To Rejoin Raptors' Lineup Wednesday

The Raptors are set to receive a boost when it regains the services of leader Chris Bosh on Wednesday against the Heat, the Toronto Star is reporting.

The Raptors forward posted the news on his website Tuesday, saying "Great news! Fresh off the press! I'm playing tomorrow!"

"I've been working out for the past couple of days getting back in shape and my knee has responded pretty well," he said. "I'm really excited because I've been waiting for a while now, watching on the bench every game. I'm finally back now!"

Raptors Suit Against Spanish Federation Could Top $14 Million

The Raptors' lawsuit against the Spanish basketball federation could end up being worth more than $14 million Canadian, the Toronto Star is reporting.

In the 19-page document filed Friday, MLSE seeks 6 million Euros ($9,440,000 Canadian) in damages for breach of contract, negligent misrepresentation and negligence if Jorge Garbajosa has suffered permanent disability or 1.5 million Euros ($2,517,000 Canadian) for temporary disability.

"He was a hard-working player and a solid defender and his absence from the starting lineup is a significant loss to the team," the Raptors stated in their claim.

According to the report, MLSE is also asking for $5 million (Canadian) in punitive damages.

Bosh Aiming To Return On Wednesday

Raptors' star forward Chris Bosh is hoping to make a return to the court on Wednesday against the worst team in the NBA the Miami Heat, the Toronto Star is reporting.

"I worked out a little bit (yesterday), and my legs felt weak so I need to get in the weight room and do things I couldn't do before and that'll give me the confidence I've been looking for," Bosh said.

"You have to have a goal in mind and that's my goal, that's what I'm shooting for," Bosh said of his plans for a Wednesday return.
