Kanter Out Indefinitely With Dislocated Shoulder

Mar 29, 2013 10:58 AM

Enes Kanter suffered a dislocated shoulder and will be out indefinitely.

Kanter averaged 7.3 points and 4.4 rebounds in only 15.6 minutes this season.

"I thought he was making great strides," Tyrone Corbin said. "His game was really coming around — where and how to use what he has. His quickness at times. His brute strength at times. His jump shot. His feel for defense is getting better."

McNeal, a 6-foot-3, 200-pound guard out of Marquette, went undrafted in 2009.

Corbin Credits Utah's Eight Impending Free Agents For Not Making Issue Of Minutes

Mar 26, 2013 11:18 AM

The Utah Jazz have eight impending free agents this offseason, which has made Tyrone Corbin's job of finding minutes for everyone even more difficult.

"With this group, I like to say that they've been tremendous all year," Corbin said. "Right from the beginning of training camp, we talked about the number of free agents we had. Everybody keeps mentioning it. We tried to get the guys — as much as they could — to not worry about it as much, but it's been there."

Upcoming free agents include regulars Paul Millsap, Al Jefferson, Mo Williams, Randy Foye, DeMarre Carroll, Jamaal Tinsley and Earl Watson.

Corbin contends that it hasn't been an issue on the whole.

"You have so many guys on the same mode it affects your overall play a little bit," Corbin said. "To these guys' credit, I think for the most part all year long they've been focused on trying to control what they can control, and that's how they're playing right now."

Corbin Admits Upcoming Free Agency Impacting Jazz

Mar 23, 2013 12:18 AM

With eight unrestricted free agents this offseason headlined by Al Jefferson and Paul Millsap, Ty Corbin acknowledges the upcoming process is affecting Utah Jazz players and their slide out of the eighth spot in the Western Conference standings.

"It may have a little something to do with where we are," Corbin said. "We can’t do anything about it. We’ve got to play our way through it, that stuff we can’t do anything about until it’s time to do something about it."

Along with Jefferson and Millsap, Mo Williams, DeMarre Carroll, Randy Foye, Earl Watson and Jamaal Tinsley all will be seeking new contracts.

"All that stuff could come into play," Corbin said. "I’ve been a free agent before. You’ve got a lot of things that come into play now."

Lindsey: Jazz Know Defensive Lapses Must Be Fixed

Mar 16, 2013 5:21 PM

Dennis Lindsey said recently that the Utah Jazz’s problems have been at the defensive end.

"The biggest area of concern is our defensive habits," Lindsey said. "That’s been chronicled all year long."

The Jazz are tied for 21st in defensive efficiency at 107.1, a full point worse than their rating from last season.

"Ty [Corbin] and everybody else knows that needs to improve," Lindsey said.

Al Jefferson has drawn criticism for his inability to contain opposing points guard on pick-and-rolls.

"I think it’s defense all around," Jefferson said. "Everybody. Not just outside. I think it’s inside, too. It’s a team effort, the way we set up our defense, that way when a guy do get beat there’s supposed to be help."

Jazz Willing To Take Step Back Next Season For Better 2014 NBA Draft Pick

Mar 12, 2013 12:47 PM

The Utah Jazz remain in the playoff picture and were engaged in trade talks involving Al Jefferson and Paul Millsap, but multiple sources say that general manager Dennis Lindsey expressed a willingness to take a step back next season to get a better pick in the strong 2014 NBA Draft.

The Jazz casually discussed a Millsap for Eric Bledsoe trade, but are comfortable letting both he and Jefferson depart via free agency without compensation.

The Jazz could have dealt Millsap for a high first round pick in 2012, but would have been required to take back a bad contract.
