Evans Thinks He's A Fit For Washington

May 28, 2009 8:18 PM

Tyreke Evans played primarily point guard at Memphis and it is still unclear which position he will fit best at in the NBA.

"I'm a combo guard," said Evans, who was excited about possibly teaming with Gilbert Arenas in Washington. "I think I'd fit perfectly. If they get healthy, they'll be back as one of the top teams in the NBA. I wouldn't mind playing behind Gilbert, watching, learning from him. I'm not the type of player that's going to go in there and complain about playing time. If I have to wait my turn, I'll wait my turn."

"He's better," Cassel said of Arenas on ESPN 980 in DC.

"He'll be ready for opening night. He's ready. We rely on Gil to do a lot of things for us - not just scoring, but being a leader. That's why I'm here. I'm here to show him how to be a leader. If you don't know, you don't know. There's nothing wrong with not knowing something. That means you got room to improve and learn."

Wizards Will Shop No. 5 Pick

May 20, 2009 11:38 AM

The Wizards were shutout of the top overall pick and even out of the top-four, moving down to the fifth slot.

"There are a lot of great players in this draft. We're in a good spot to get a good player or to possibly use that player in a trade," Ernie Grunfeld said in a telephone interview. "We feel comfortable with the fifth pick, but we are going to explore our options to see what can make us the best possible team next year. But we feel, if we have all of our pieces out there, it would be hard for any young player to come in and break into the lineup -- even if it was the first pick."
