After nearly 100,000 votes were cast, the RealGM ?Be an NBA GM? Contest Finals are finally upon us. Kobe Bryant, the representative from the Western Conference will be taking on Chris Bosh from the Toronto Raptors of the Eastern Conference. Bryant represents the older generation of stars in the NBA, while Bosh is a member of the league?s ?new school? of talent. Given the opportunity to start your very own NBA franchise with just one of these two studs, which would you choose?

The Case for Bosh

While Bosh may not have the all-star appearances and championships that Kobe has, he does have time on his side. At just twenty-two years of age Bosh has a long future ahead of him. In his three years of service in Toronto he has improved drastically from season-to-season. With the supporting cast that new GM Bryan Colangelo has placed around him, Bosh might finally get a taste of playoff action in 2007.

The Case against Bosh

Although he has improved on his size since his rookie year, Bosh is still a small power forward. He stands 6?10? tall and weighs around 230 pounds, but he looks more like a totem pole than a towering oak. His slender frame could make for tough interior battles when the games start meaning something in Toronto. Other than that he doesn?t have too many weaknesses. He could stand to use his long arms to swat more shots, but improvement is always possible.

The Case for Kobe

He?s undoubtedly one of the greatest players of his generation, and his scoring abilities could place him among basketballs? best when it?s all said and done. With that said, is Kobe the kind of player you want anchoring your franchise? If you want a player who can score in an endless amount of ways, there isn?t a player better than Kobe. Last season he led the league in scoring, 35.4 points per game, and made headlines when he scored 81 points against the Raptors in January.

The Case against Kobe

Being a proficient scorer is one thing, but being able to make the players around you better is a completely different challenge. Kobe won titles and wowed opponents when Shaq was anchoring the Lakers? frontcourt, but with The Big Diesel in Miami the Lakers have become mediocre. The blame for the recent struggles in Los Angeles cannot be placed solely on the shoulders of Bryant, but GM Mitch Kupchak has to be wondering if Kobe is the right man to lead the Lakers.
