The Akron Beacon Journal reports that the Cavs may be interested in signing center Oliver Miller, who recently has been working out with new head coach John Lucas in Houston.

``I like Oliver,'' Lucas said. ``If he can get in better shape, he's somebody I'd be interested in.''

Miller, who has eaten his way out of the NBA several times only to resurface, has been working out with Lucas in Houston since last week. The plan is for him to continue the workouts through September.

Jeff Blakeley, Miller's agent, said his client now weighs between 345-350 pounds. That's actually rather trim for Miller, a 6-foot-9 post man who has played at 370. But Miller, who played in Poland last season (hold the Polish sausage jokes) after eight seasons in the NBA, needs to lose more.
