According to Steve Wyche of the Washington Post, Michael Jordan will not hold a news conference next week to announce if he is coming out of retirement, because of the fallout from the terrorist attacks on Tuesday, according to two sources familiar with the plans. A news conference had been planned for next Thursday at MCI Center.

Jordan could not be reached and the Wizards declined to comment.

Jordan, whose announcement has been highly anticipated, said last week he was 8 on a scale of 10 to return. However, Jordan believes a news conference would be inappropriate, a source said. The announcement would allow the team to proceed with ticket sales, marketing, sponsorships and publication of its programs and media guide.
