The Akron Beacon Journal reports that the Cavaliers did the obvious yesterday, picking up the option for a fourth season on point guard Andre Miller. The Cavs had until Oct. 31 to make a decision on Miller, entering his third year. ``We wanted to do it on the first day of practice,'' said General Manager Jim Paxson. ``Andre is an important part of our team.'' Miller, who will make $2.46 million in his fourth season, can sign an extension beyond that as soon as next summer. If that doesn't happen, he would become a restricted free agent in 2003.
