The "door is not closed" to controversial center Olden Polynice's return to the Jazz, his agent said Friday.

The Jazz "have some things they are trying to do" to clear space under the salary cap and sign a player such as Polynice without going over the NBA's new luxury tax, according to agent Dwight Manley. Jazz officials have said they will not pay a luxury tax.

At the same time, Manley said several other teams are crunching numbers and trying to get far enough under the salary cap to make Polynice an attractive offer. Manley, who also represents Jazz players Karl Malone, Bryon Russell and Donyell Marshall, did not name those teams.
