A year ago, when Tracy McGrady said he wanted to average a triple-double one NBA season, everyone around him chuckled, believing it was just youthful exuberance, an unrealistic dream and nothing more.

It's been 40 years since Oscar Robertson averaged double digits in scoring, rebounding and assists, and a stream of great players has come and gone without coming close.

Yet no one is laughing now about any of McGrady's long-term goals.

After what he accomplished last season, it's hard to doubt anything he says.

He never managed a single triple-double last season, but he did everything else, laying the groundwork for a path toward stardom.
