Tim Povtak of the Orlando Sentinel reports: Tracy McGrady has a message to those who run the NBA:

"They should fire the Fashion Police," McGrady said Wednesday morning after receiving written confirmation that he had been fined $5,000 by the league office. "They should have better things to do than worry about how long my shorts are."

McGrady was one of nine NBA players -- including teammate Andrew DeClercq -- who were in violation of wearing their shorts too long. The league wants the shorts no lower than one inch above the knee.

"I guess they want us all looking like John Stockton [the Utah point guard who wears his notoriously short].

The NBA Players Association already has filed a grievance with the league on behalf of those players who are being fined.

The money is due by Nov. 28.
