Grant Hill was back in uniform and Mike Miller stayed in the starting lineup Monday night as the Orlando Magic took on the Detroit Pistons.

Hill couldn't go Saturday night in the Magic's 103-101 loss to the Charlotte Hornets due to a sprained left foot but wasn't about to miss another game with his former team in town.

"He said that one day off (Sunday) really helped him," coach Doc Rivers said of Hill, who is averaging 17 points and nine rebounds a game but shooting only 42.4 percent from the floor.

The decision to keep Miller in the lineup resulted in Darrell Armstrong coming off the bench for the first time since he was named the NBA's Sixth Man of the Year in 1999. Armstrong, who had made 175 starts in a row, did not make his entrance until there was 5:14 to go in the first quarter.

Rivers said the trade Nov. 16 of Bo Outlaw to the Phoenix Suns was a factor in redefining Armstrong's role. Not only should Armstrong give an energy boost to the reserves which had been lacking, but as the team's top pick-and-roll player, he should work well in tandem with Patrick Ewing.
