Chris Broussard of the New York Times writes that Marcus Camby wants you to believe that he is just another Knick, that he ranks no higher than Othella Harrington or Charlie Ward on the significance chart. It is an admirable viewpoint but totally off base since he returned from a heel injury a week and a half ago.

As soon as Camby dunked the first 2 points in his first game, the Knicks were transformed from a potential lottery team to a potential Eastern Conference contender, winning four of five games.

The future of Coach Jeff Van Gundy improved with his team, too. It was widely viewed that his tenure with the Knicks was in jeopardy. Now, Van Gundy seems destined to be immortalized beneath Red Holzman in terms of longevity at Madison Square Garden.
