The NBA's trade deadline arrives a month from yesterday and all eyes in the East are on New York.

The struggling Knicks, whose losing streak was extended to eight games with yesterday's embarrassing 111-68 home loss to Charlotte, might simply have to blow up a horribly constructed, dysfunctional team if they are to find any way out of the morass.

Trouble is, who wants anyone from there?

Latrell Sprewell is shooting less than 30 per cent, including yesterday's 0-for-9 brickfest, over the last eight games; Allan Houston might be the best three-quarters player outside of Shareef Abdur-Rahim and the point guard tandem of Mark Jackson and Charlie Ward alternate between slow and bad.

And then there's Marcus Camby, probably the team's best player if you can get past the fact he misses 25 per cent of every single season because of injury. So, can the Knicks make a deal?

"Nobody's going to give you anything great for Knick dreck," one general manager said. "Especially high-priced Knick dreck."
