The Hornets closed a three-day break for the NBA All-Star Weekend with an extended practice late Monday, getting Jamal Mashburn back in full-scale workouts as they prepare for a busy week.

Mashburn, who has played in nine games this season while recovering from a lower abdominal strain, began practicing in a more limited way a week before, then took part in five-on-five scrimmages as the Hornets regrouped from the weekend.

He is planning to return next Monday when Charlotte plays at Milwaukee.

"Mash did really well," coach Paul Silas said. "His shot is fine. He participated in everything we did with no problems. He's not as aggressive as he will become. He just has to get back to playing basketball again.

"The only thing we have to do now is get David (Wesley) healthy again."

Wesley, the starting shooting guard, is out another two to three weeks with a broken bone in his left foot.

The Hornets (23-25) will resume play Wednesday against the Chicago Bulls at the Charlotte Coliseum. Beginning that day, they will play at least every other night for the next three weeks, with 11 games in 19 days.

They will follow the Bulls matchup with a Friday game against the Indiana Pacers and a Sunday afternoon game against the Memphis Grizzlies, both at the Coliseum.
