Tom Bower of the San Antonio Express News writes that the $175 million SBC Center, which is set to be complete by October 15th, will get some additional enhancements, paid for by the Spurs, for $2.9 million.  This is in addition to another $5 million the Spurs decided to pay in October for a different foundation.  The latest improvements -- which have yet to be approved by Spurs' ownership -- would include a state-of-the-art scoreboard, a message board that would encircle the bowl, see-through glass guardrails, padded seats for the upper decks, theater curtains, stainless steel handrails, more durable roofing materials, and at least one additional elevator.

The county will pay $146.5 million for the arena and the Spurs will chip in between $28.5 and $43.5 million.  The arena agreement puts the responsibility of paying for enhancements on the Spurs.
