The Golden State Warriors give up more points than any team in the NBA, so the Jazz suspected they would have plenty of offense Saturday night.

It was a question then of how hard they"d be willing to play on defense.

The answer was: Just hard enough.

The Jazz threw a zone defense at the Warriors for a stretch in the second quarter that helped spark a 15-0 run, and Utah coasted from there to a 112-103 victory at the Delta Center.

""We had a great second quarter," Jazz point guard John Stockton said. ""We were intense defensively, we were able to get out on the fast break because of it and it really set the tone."

Donyell Marshall led the way against his former team with 25 points, Karl Malone scored 24 to go with his 12 rebounds and season-high six steals, and Andrei Kirilenko scored 21 off the bench.

""We got some points," Utah coach Jerry Sloan said, ""but we need to get everybody involved defensively where we can make stops."

And that was a problem.
