Ira Winderman of the Sun-Sentinel reports that Heat General Manager Randy Pfund says that it is likely the Heat will stay at its No. 10 slot in the June 26 draft.

"I'd say that's pretty close to our thinking at this point," Pfund said from the Chicago pre-draft camp.

With the Heat facing salary cap troubles and a slew of free agents, there has been speculation that they may trade down. Pfund said he is not certain he would be willing to take such a risk. He views an initial talent gap after the first "four or five picks -- and then I'm not sure the next break isn't past us. I'm not sure anybody's going to pay a big price to move up three or four spots to 10," he said.

Pfund said the team has privately worked out 12 prospects for its highest selection in seven years, with "about 12 to 16 more to go."

He said the team will work out Maryland forward Chris Wilcox, who skipped an initial round of tryouts because of an injured hamstring, and plans to have a scout make another trip to Europe to see 19-year-old Italian League forward Nikoloz Tskitishvili.

Pfund estimated 30 top prospects opted not to play at the Chicago camp, which concluded its round-robin play Friday. He said the event, nonetheless, proved a fertile ground for the Heat to scout for its second-round selection, No. 53 overall.
